Again, a traffic caused fatality occurred. This horrible tragedy happened when a six year-old boy dropped his library books in the street. When he picked them up he ran to catch up with his sister. In the process he was hit by a car and killed. The driver stopped and called an ambulance. He tried to help the boy, but the boy died before getting to the hospital. This is a situation that I would hate to be the driver of the car. He probably didn't see or expect the boy to be out in the street. Now he has to live the horrific knowledge that he hit and killed someone with his car. This event really brings up the fact that traffic safety isn't just something parents need to inform their kids about, but that they should teach their kids to go thought the steps of looking both ways and being aware of cars when they go into the street. It is unfortunate that these things have to happen and mistakes have to be made for society to learn and change.

Rox 2007 Legacy Denver Post
In 2007 the Colorado Rockies finally made it to the World Series. In their 14th season as a franchise the Rockies have only made it to the playoffs once in 1995. This season they not only made it to the playoffs, but they made it all the way the the World Series and finished as the best team in the National League. How they got to the 'Big Dance' was an extraordinary story. The team started off the season at the bottom of their division with a 10/16 record in the month of April. At the end of May and into the Rockies got hot and went 20/7 and swept the Yankees. After that the team lost 9 straight games and went 7 games under 500. The team had a lot of ground to make up, and they had a good month of July to pass up the Giants in the NL West. At the begging of September chances of making the playoffs seemed slim; however, the team made a miracle in September. The Rockies went 21/8 and got the chance to play the San Diego Padres for a wildcard spot. They beat the Padres in the bottom of the 13th inning by scoring three runs. The Rockies then swept the Philadelphia Phillies and the Arizona Diamondbacks to win the National League Pennant .
This has been a season I will never forget. I followed every game this year. I cheered when they swept the Yankees and cried when they lost 9 straight. September was a month that made me really excited. When they finally made it to the playoffs I couldn't sleep at all. When they swept the Diamondbacks I couldn't believe it. Every time I heard about the Rockies after that series I would always declare how astonished I was. It really disappointed me to see them lose the World Series, but I have faith in the team to do it next year.
